The City of Norwood's Earnings Tax Department is open Monday - Friday with processing times of        8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. 

Our office is available to assist you by telephone, email, fax, or in person on a walk-in first come first serve basis.

Documents and tax payments may also be dropped off in the "Water Drop Box" located on the Elm Ave. side of City Hall in an enveloped clearly marked with "Tax Department".
 

The due date for filing your City of Norwood Income Tax return is April 15 or the Federal due date.


Filing Requirements

The City of Norwood has a mandatory filing requirement. The earnings tax of 2.0% applies to all who are 18 years of age or older who live, work, operate or conduct business within the City of Norwood. ALL Norwood residents regardless of age, status or income level is required to file annually.

All non-residents engaged in business within the City of Norwood or has taxable income to the City of Norwood, whom were not fully withheld by an employer are required to file an Income tax return with the City of Norwood.

All non-residents who have sales, services performed or rental property within the City of Norwood are required to file a return regardless if tax is due.

 

  Documents needed for a complete return:

  • Copies of W-2’s from all employers
  • Copies of any 1099-MISC or 1099-NEC forms received
  • Copy of Federal 1040 Pages 1 and 2; Schedule 1; any attached schedules (e.g. Schedules C, E, or F)
  • Norwood Cover sheet with Taxpayers Name, SSN, Current Address, Telephone Number and E-mail Address

Changes Beginning Tax Year 2016

By October 31st of each year, the interest rate that will apply to overdue municipal income taxes during the calendar year will be posted herein, as required by Ohio Revised Code Section 718.27(F). The interest rate is calculated by adding 5 percentage points to the federal short-term rate (rounded to the nearest whole number percent) that was in effect during July of the current year, in accordance with Ohio Revised Code Section 718.24(A)(5), and is applicable to tax years beginning on or after January 1, 2016. Based on these requirements, the applicable interest is as follows:
